1.   From production process 

From the production process, tin box is mainly classified into two categories. One is the side-lock tin, the other is welded-side tin cans. The side connection method is different between these two tins. For side-lock tin, we'll fold the two ends of tinplate by opposite direction, then hook each other and press tight by punching machine. For welding can, we'll connect the ends of the side by welding. Most candy tins, chocolate tins, tea tins, coffee tins, wine cans, cigarette tins, cosmetic tin box belong to side-lock tins. While oil tins, milk powder tins, motor tins belong to welded-side tin.

2.   According to the structure of tin box 

According to structure, tin box can be divided into drawn cans, seam-bottom tins and buckle-bottom cans. Drawn-tins mean the tin's body and bottom come from same sheet of tinplate, and the body is drawn out by the bottom's material.
